Aidan Hutchinson Undergoes Successful Surgery on Fractured Leg

ARLINGTON, Texas — Detroit Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson had successful surgery on his fractured tibia and fibula Sunday night in Dallas, the team confirmed Monday. He is expected to fully recover but will miss the remainder of the season, with a recovery period of six to eight months.

Hutchinson sustained the injury during a sack on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in a 47-9 win. His leg appeared to snap when it collided with teammate Alim McNeill.

Lions coach Dan Campbell expressed his disappointment, noting Hutchinson's significant impact on the team. "Hate it for Hutch. It's tough losing someone like him," he said.

Teammates echoed the sentiment, with running back David Montgomery emphasizing Hutchinson’s leadership and character. Defensive linemen will now need to step up in his absence, although McNeill believes the overall game plan won’t change drastically.

Hutchinson, the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, had been leading the league in sacks and pressures this season.
