The ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Star Passes Away at 76
John Ashton, best known for his memorable portrayal of detective John Taggart in the beloved Beverly Hills Cop films, died at the age of 76. His family shared the sad news on Saturday, though they confirmed it that he died in Fort Collins, Colorado, however, the cause of death was not determined.
Ashton's illustrious career spanned over 50 years, during which time he played notable roles in films such as Midnight Run, Little Big League, Gone Baby Gone etc. Not only was he a talented actor but he was also a charming storyteller, often telling tales of his experiences inside Hollywood . One of his favorites was auditioning with the legendary Robert De Niro, where Ashton stood his ground, liked De Niro and eventually got the role.
He is survived by his loving wife, Robyn Hoye, their two children, three stepchildren and a beloved grandson. He is survived by two sisters and a brother, all of whom will fondly remember him. Ashton's legacy in the film industry and the impact he had on those who knew him will be sorely missed.
